Practicing Simple Obedience ― Mark 11:27-33

The religious leaders often questioned Jesus and how He did certain things. In this week’s text, they sought to trap Him by questioning Him and His authority to teach, heal, and perform miracles. Jesus, as He often does, flips the script and catches them in their own questioning. Jesus has authority over all things. Satan and his demons are subject to Jesus. He sits at the right hand of God and one day every knee will bow and tongue confess that Jesus is Lord*. He has the final word and true authority over all things.

In that authority, Jesus asks us to give Him our lives in humble service. We tend to get caught up in disciplines and the "how" of things, when it should be simple. He asks and we should do (Matthew 28:18‒20). His Word is full of things we should try; so let's start doing them.

This week, try and do any of these:

  1. Make disciples

  2. Forgive someone

  3. Serve someone

  4. Pray with and for someone

  5. Be Jesus to people

  6. Or anything in the Word that Jesus asks of us
